he nearly fifty–year career of the
French Conceptual painter Olivier Mosset began in the 1960s with his emergence
as a member of the Paris-based collective B. M. P. T. (an acronym for the
artists Daniel Buren, Olivier Mosset, Michel Parmentier, and Niele Toroni), a
group of conceptually driven painters who rejected traditional notions of painting.
Buren, perhaps the most well-known of the group, sought to democratize art by
making impersonal and non-expressive abstract art, questioning notions of
authorship and originality and inserting art into everyday sites and
situations. Since that time, Mosset has been working primarily in Minimalist
abstract and monochrome painting.
Techniques:
His work
is developed in instalations, acrylic paintings and sculpture
