Alexander Vinogradov

1963 born in Moscow
1980-1984 studied in the Moscow Art College named in memory of the 1905 revolution
1989-1995 studied in Moscow State Art Institute named after Surikov
Corresponding member of the Academy of Arts
Lives and works in Moscow

Since 1994 work together

Themes and style:
n the early part of their career together they adopted the style of socialist realism, an officially sanctioned art practice under the soviet regime. Their early works resembled posters for non-existent thrillers and sleazy porn flicks. They worked with their idea of social order, laborers, collective farmers, etc. and put a modern twist on an outdated practice. Their result was a collection of ideas and themes that would make socialistic fantasies visible to the viewer.

In 2001, Dubosarsky and Vinogradov made a transition from the socialist fantasy to the ideals of mass media.

Techniques:
         Painting ( oil on canvas)

In their own words:
“Well, you can’t describe promise with words anyway. You can mark it with a thick brushstroke, but it basically only starts when you are already involved, when it is no longer promise, but already becoming reality. That’s when everything happens.”
