BIO & STEPS
Born:
In 1969,
London, UK
Studies:
- Between 1985 and 1987, she got a B-TEC Diploma in
Art and Design from the Epsom School of Art, Surrey, England (now the
University for the Creative Arts)
- From 1987 to 1989, she took drawing and printmaking
classes at Morley College, London.
- From 1989 to 1993, she received a BA degree in Fine
Arts from the Slade School of Art, London.
- IN 1995 se relocated to NewYork where she set up an
Art-Studio
Nowadays:
Lives
and works in New York, NY, USA
Themes and style:
Brown's paintings combine figuration and
abstraction, getting close to the Abstract Expresionism. Sexuality and
attraction are her main themes.
Techniques:
Mostly oil and acrylic on canvas
painting but she also works
installation, and media.

In her own words:
“I've
discovered that the more I paint, the more I want to paint. The longer I go on
doing it, the more I have to say and do. You pose a certain set of questions in
one group of paintings and you want to answer them in the next. One body of
work leads naturally to the next - you sort of feed off yourself. It's a
question of accepting the limits of painting and trying to be as imaginative
and expansive as possible within those boundaries.”
